An everyday spice blend typical of Southern California-style Mexican food. It’s perfect for carne asada, tacos and burritos and anything grilled. Particularly nice with beef, poultry, or beans, Cali-Mex provides that difficult to capture border town feeling. The first blend developed by Steve, our Californian in residence, it invokes the homey, So-Cal comfort food of a neighborhood taco shop.
This blend features an old Spanish-inspired herb blend and a unique mix of chilies that add heat and smokiness without too much sweetness. Avocado leaves replace bay leaves for a broad, aromatic base that’s a California essential. Cali-Mex contains onion and garlic powder, so there’s no need to use a wet marinade before you grill.
